RE: Best BBQ

I guess the question of the day is do you want to BBQ or Grill if you want to grill the Weber Q is a good choice for gas but if you go with a Weber kettle which comes in a few sizer you will have the convenience of grilling and baebequing all in one, because true BBQ is low and slow on wood or charcoal, if you are real serious go for the Weber Smokey Mountain this is an unbeatable product I have 2 of them and it is the only cooker i use in competitions, heck i even have one tattooed on my leg, anyway in my opinion a weber kettle is the way to go, you can get a 22.5" weber kettle for 85.00 and it will last you forever, I picked one up from 1970's at rummage sale for 5 bucks still cooks just like a new one.

RE: Your hometown favorite Hamburger and Hot Dog place! Pics!

I happen to live in the town with the orginal Burger King, Mattoon illinois, they won a lawsuit many years back that another burger king could not be within a 30 mile radius, the nearest one 30 mile in Tuscola. Google it sometime it is an interesting story, oh and the food outstanding burgers, shakes and fries, during little leauge season it is where all the teams go after the game for ice cream they give all players .25 cones, shakes so as a coach i can feed the whol team plus poarents for less than 5 bucks, and we all take turns throughout the season.

RE: Salsa Anyone?

approx. 8 cups of tomatoes drained 1 vidalia onion 1 bunch of cilantro 1-4 jalepeno peppers, depending how hot you want it you can even omit for mild 2 tablespoons of lime juice salt and pepper to taste I sell this salsa during the summer when i have to many tomatoes, all the amounts are approximate due to the fact that i have made it thousands of times and have really never measured but trust me you will love this salsa, I use a foor processor on pulse to chop and mix all ingreditants

RE: Show Us Your Little Rig!

Here is my Jayco Lite Hawk 24ft TT and my Jeep Liberty http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/jman1972/camper017.jpg I'd be very curious to hear the tow rating on your jeep and the weights on the TT. The Jeep Liberty has a tow rating of 3500 pounds or 5000 with weight dist. The jayco Lit weighs in at about 3500 pounds dry weight I do not tow it much since it is set up at a seasonal camp site but when i do i make sure it is as empty as possible but no matter what the Liberty does a great job it has plenty of power and i have never felt uncomfortable towing it my Jeep had a 5000 valley hitch with weight distribution and a tekonsha voyager trailer brake.

RE: Water Filter

I am usuing a white rv hose maybe its not the hose taste i am getting that is just how I describe it, the filter I bought at wal-mart was for campers and rvs is anyone familer with this filter, i am not concerned about the quailty of the water because this filter takes out impurities but the taste out of the faucet isnt that good, it is a 1998 camper is it possible its just old piping taste, maybe i just need to flush everything real well with the filter installed

Water Filter

I am set up at a seasonal campsite with water, electric and sewre hook ups my mom has been at this sight for sometime now she has always said not to drink the water i don't know what is wrong with it she just said it tastes like a garden hose she has a filter on her faucet that she uses. Well i found at wal-mart a filter that attaches to the incoming water hose so i got it and the water still tastes like a hose anyone know what else i can use so i don't have to haul water down everytime.

RE: Charcoal, your thoughts

I don't use it for grilling that much, since I do love a gas grill for convenience, but when I do low and slow cooking kingsford will burn in my Weber Smokey Mountain for 12-15 hours on 15 pounds charcoal, I have also tried rancher and it was good but you can't find it anymore, but still not as good as kingsford. Barry we just returned from Orlando for a vacation last week and had a great time I love the weather in Florida, did the whole Disney world Seaworld thing and went to cocoa beach it was a great week, I was even looking for a job down there I am an Ammonia refrigeration specialist so there should be plenty of work for me in Florida.

RE: Worst dish mom made?

This is an easy one Skillet fried cube steak with cream of mushroom gravy and green peppers, that was her favorite meat because it was cheap, that why my kids are spoiled I don't want to subject them to that.

RE: who has a seasonal site?

We just signed up for our seasonal campsite, although we are new TT owners My mom has been camping at this site for 4 years and she loves it she doesn't even have a truck that can pull her camper soshe bought it off the CG owners and they just put it on her site she has it set up like a homestead and doesn't plan on moving it. Me on the other hand i plan on pulling mine out 3-4 times a year for my BBQ contests but it is nice always having it set up and ready to go just load the groceries and go everything else is at the camper we have made some friends and the kidslove to get away for the week end we will keep it there year yound but the CG is only open from April 1st to November 1st, the CG will winterize it for you for 25.00, the price we pay is 575.00 a year, heck i was paying 25.00 a month just to keep it in storage and it wasnt even set up at least this way if i work a weekend my wife can take the kids camping and not worry about setup.

RE: towing with new Jeep Liberty

I tow a 24 foot jayco hawk lite with a 2003 liberty and have plenty of power to spare I have a valley hitch with weight dist and trailer brakes the only thing I do not have is sway control which will be bought soon I have only towed the trailer 4 times and only had sway issues once du to high winds, i believe if you take it easy and tow smart the liberty will do fine my jayco hawk weighs in at 3600 dry and 4700 fully loaded which i try to avoid while towing and the liberty is rated at 3500 pounds or 5000 with weight dist, in fact when I had everything installed the mechanic said the plate on the liberty said GVTW of 5600.

RE: Competition BBQ chef..new to RV

I understand your concern but believe me I did my homework before buying it wasnt just the dealer who said it was ok I tlked to other owners and a mechanic so i think I am ok but i will tell you thay i am having sway bars installed because it was real windy and it moved a little not alot but enough to get sway bars, I have a 5000 pound hitch with weight dist. as well as an electronic trailer brake controller it pulls like a dream no problems at all but thanks for your concern i will keep a close eye mon it, olus it will never be pulled more than a few hours away
